How to Block a Program from Accessing the Internet

This is how you can block a program from accessing the internet using only the built-in windows firewall. All versions of Windows operating system do the same method. Steps described in this article are the Windows XP setup.

1.Open the Windows Firewall from your computer Control Panel.

2.Click on Windows Firewall and click the On (Recommended) radio button if your firewall is turned-off.

3.Click on Exceptions and Add Program button. Select the program you want to block. Do not check the tick box because it will serve as an exception.

4.Click OK to save.

5.Try to test if the program can access the internet. You can test your anti-virus program if it can update. If it cannot update its virus definition, then this is successful.
